Alicia Melendez, MD
Dr. Alicia Melendez brings nearly four decades of experience to
Baja Nutri Care, along with a passion for preventative health.
Born in Santa Barbara, Chihuahua, Mexico in 1938, Dr. Melendez was
raised to believe in the power of health. Her mother was a nurse
and even early on Dr. Melendez knew she wanted to study medicine.
She earned her degree as a General Practitioner from the Universidad
Nacional Autónoma de México in 1964 and went on to
receive a specialty in surgery from the Consejo Mexicano de Cirugía
General in 1978.
Dr. Melendez’s ambition early in her career to work as a
missionary doctor was fueled by her desire to help others. She was
introduced to the world of alternative therapy in 1977 and has made
a career of caring for patients through a restorative treatment
that fuels the immune system. “When you work in this type
of therapy, you take great joy in watching a patient thrive and
be reborn, in a sense,” she said. “You take pride, and
feel true fulfillment, in being able to help others.”
As the co-founder of Baja Nutri Care, Dr. Melendez believes there
is true power in the clinic’s alternative forms of natural
healing. In fact, she has seen many patients arrive at the clinic
with a terminal diagnosis from traditional doctors, and then make
a miraculous recovery. “In orthodox medicine, it is believed
that some diseases equal death,” she said. “But we believe,
that through the power of nature’s own healing process, each
patient can regain control of his or her own health again.”
Luz Maria Bravo, MD
A native of Tijuana BC, Mexico, Dr. Luz Maria Bravo has always
been fascinated with the human body. Even as a youngster, she
knew
the names of all the muscles and bones and organs in the body.
As early as grade school, she knew she wanted to study medicine.
Born
in 1958, Dr. Bravo received her degree as a General Practitioner
from Universidad Autonoma de Baja California before obtaining a
postgraduate degree in Nutrition. She began working with alternative
medicine in 1986, co-founded Baja Nutri Care and today serves as
the center’s medical director.
Dr. Bravo’s more than 15 years of work in natural healing
has proven to her the powerful role nutrition plays in health. Through
the use of a wide array of organic nutrients, patients can restore
their bodies to an optimum level. More importantly, good nutrition
is the key to prevention. “A change in a person’s diet
can completely alter their health,” she said. “Nutrition
is key when helping improve the entire body. It’s not just
a band-aid covering up a condition, it is the door to better health
and a longer life.”
When patients arrive at Baja Nutri Care, Dr. Bravo encourages them
to take charge of their health. She said: “You have to dig
and discover what is going on in your body and why. Even with medication,
for example. Many times doctors don’t tell you the harsh effects
some of these powerful medicines can have on your body. You need
to ask and find out what the side effects are and what impacts it
will have on your body. Many times, a change in diet can have an
equally, if not more, powerful effect. And that’s what we
at Baja Nutri Care are here to find out.”
